The Bosnian war effort to fight against genocide by Dutch soldiers was not successful partly due to to "open" gay soldiers being allowed in the army, according to John Sheehan, a former NATO commander who retired from the military in 1997.
John Sheehan "shocked some at a Senate Armed Services Committee, where Sheehan spoke in opposition to a proposal to allow gays to serve openly in the U.S. military. Committee Chairman Sen. Carl Levin told Sheehan he was 'totally off-target.'" 1
"Sheehan said European militaries deteriorated after the collapse of the Soviet Union and focused on peacekeeping because 'they did not believe the Germans were going to attack again or the Soviets were coming back.'" 1
"Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and other nations believed there was no longer a need for an active combat capability in the militaries, he said. 'They declared a peace dividend and made a conscious effort to socialize their military - that includes the unionization of their militaries, it includes open homosexuality.'" 1
"Sheehan said European militaries deteriorated after the collapse of the Soviet Union and focused on peacekeeping because 'they did not believe the Germans were going to attack again or the Soviets were coming back.'" 1
"Levin, D-Mich., appeared incredulous. "'Did the Dutch leaders tell you it (the fall of Srebrenica) was because there were gay soldiers there?' he asked." 1
"'Yes,' Sheehan said. 'They included that as part of the problem.' He said the former chief of staff of the Dutch army had told him." 1

Retired General: Gays Weakened Dutch Army
Inclusion of Gays Was Contributing Factor to Peacekeepers' Inability to Prevent 1995 Bosnian Genocide, Man Says *
*The quotations in this post are excerpts. Click the above link to read the entire article.
CONSERVATIVE WORDSMITH.COM COMMENTARY: This unexpected information must have been a shock to liberals attending the Senate Armed Services Committee. John Sheehan, a retired U.S. general, received his information from a reliable source, the former chief of staff of the Dutch army. But, knowing how liberals can't stand to face the truth even when it is staring them in the face, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Sheehan's statment induces short-term memory loss in those that heard it.

Thomas Jefferson Led "Old Republican" Wing of Democratic-Republican Party
Did Thomas Jefferson and James Madison believe in political parties? Yes. As a matter of fact, America's Founding Fathers Thomas Jefferson and James Madison founded the Democratic-Republican Party around 1792. 1
"Jeffersonian purists, or 'Old Republican' wing of the party, led by Jefferson, John Randolph of Roanoke, William H. Crawford, and Nathaniel Macon, favored low tariffs, states' rights, strict construction of the Constitution, and reduced spending. It opposed a standing army. The 'National Republicans,' led by Henry Clay, John Quincy Adams and John C. Calhoun, eventually favored higher tariffs, a stronger national defense, and 'internal improvements' (public works projects).[4] After the Federalist Party broke up in 1815, many former members joined the D-R's nationalist faction.[5]"
"United States Presidents from the party were: Thomas Jefferson (elected in 1800 and 1804), James Madison (1808 and 1812), and James Monroe (1816 and 1820)."

ST. PATRICK'S DAY: OBAMA Claims Irish Ancestry From County Offaly, Ireland
President Barack Obama reflected on his Irish heritage on St. Patrick's Day today, March 17. Obama also met with Ireland's Prime Minister Brian Cowen. Obama said he has some Irish blood from his mother's side of the family. "'I believe it was my great-great-great-great-great grandfather,' he said at Speaker Pelosi's Friends of Ireland Luncheon today in the Capitol." 1
"But that's two 'greats'more than the far-removed Irish relative he referred to on St. Patrick's Day a year ago as 'my great-great-great grandfather.'" 1
"Then as now, Mr. Obama said the relative hailed from County Offaly, the same as Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen." 1
